Blood Bank & its Components
The Sacred Heart hospital has a well equipped licensed Blood Bank. It is located in the ground floor of the hospital and provides safe blood. Volunteer Donors screening and replacement of blood are done between 8 .30 AM and 4.30 PM.
All the blood bags are tested for the following to assure safe blood transfusion
- Blood group and Rh
- Hemoglobin
- Screening for malarial parasite
- VDRL
- HIV ELISA
- HCV ELISA
- HBsAg ELISA
All blood bags are examined visually for turbidity and particulate matter, colour damage , air in the bag, leakage, and expiry date etc. Sterility of blood bags are tested once in every month by culturing blood from random bag.
